Expert Floor Fitters

Professional Flooring Fitters
in Rochdale & Greater Manchester

At NR Prime Projects, we install all types of flooring for homeowners across Rochdale and Greater Manchester. Whether you are reflooring a single bedroom, fitting new floors throughout a house renovation, or laying LVT in a new kitchen extension — our experienced flooring team delivers a professional finish that looks right, feels right, and holds up properly for years.

The difference between a good flooring installation and a poor one comes down to two things: proper subfloor preparation and accurate, tight fitting at edges, doorways, and transitions. Poorly prepared subfloors cause LVT and laminate to lift, crack, or develop hollow spots within months. Poorly cut edges at skirtings and door frames ruin an otherwise good floor. Our Rochdale team does not skip preparation and does not rush the fitting.

We offer both supply and fit — where we source your chosen flooring at competitive trade prices — and fit only, where you supply flooring you have already purchased from a retailer. We also work closely with our plastering and building teams, so flooring can be coordinated seamlessly as part of a wider renovation project. See our full services or get a free quote today.

Most Popular 2026

LVT Luxury Vinyl Tile

LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) has become the most popular flooring choice for Rochdale homes in 2026 — and for very good reason. It is fully waterproof, highly durable, warm underfoot, and available in realistic wood and stone designs that closely mimic the real materials. Unlike laminate, LVT can go in kitchens, bathrooms, and utility rooms without any risk of moisture damage. Brands including Karndean, Amtico, Quick-Step Livyn, and Polyflor are available in click-lock or glue-down formats. A wear layer of 0.5mm or above is recommended for family homes with children and pets.

Laminate Flooring

Laminate remains one of the most cost-effective ways to transform the floors of a Rochdale home. Modern laminate in 2026 is available in wide-plank formats with realistic wood grain textures, bevelled edges, and AC3–AC5 wear ratings suitable for busy family homes. It is fast to install, easy to maintain, and available in hundreds of colours and finishes. Laminate is not waterproof and should not be laid in wet areas such as bathrooms. It works exceptionally well in living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, and dining areas. We recommend 12mm thick boards with a high AC rating for the best durability in family homes.

Engineered Wood Flooring

Engineered wood is real wood — a solid hardwood wear layer (typically oak, walnut, or ash) bonded to a stable plywood or HDF core. It delivers the authentic look, warmth, and feel of solid wood with significantly better dimensional stability, making it suitable for use with underfloor heating and in rooms with varying humidity. Engineered oak in particular — especially in herringbone or chevron patterns — is the most sought-after premium flooring finish in Rochdale and Greater Manchester homes in 2026. It can be sanded and refinished once or twice over its lifetime, extending its lifespan considerably.

Carpet Fitting

Carpet remains the preferred choice for bedrooms and living rooms in Rochdale homes — it is warmer underfoot, quieter, softer underfoot for children, and provides better thermal and acoustic insulation than hard flooring. We fit carpet in bedrooms, lounges, stairs, and landings using a quality gripper rod installation on a high-density rubber underlay for the best comfort and longest lifespan. We offer a fit-only service for carpet purchased from any supplier, or we can supply carpet at competitive trade prices in a wide range of colours, fibres, and pile types.

Sheet Vinyl Flooring

Sheet vinyl is a practical, fully waterproof, and highly cost-effective flooring solution for kitchens, utility rooms, bathrooms, and hallways in Rochdale homes. Modern vinyl sheet products are available in realistic stone, wood, and tile designs and offer an easy-to-clean, seamless surface ideal for busy rooms. Being a single-sheet product means no joins — which reduces the risk of water ingress at seams. It is the most affordable waterproof flooring option available and is particularly well-suited to rental properties, utility areas, and anywhere that needs a robust, easy-to-maintain floor.

Herringbone & Chevron

Herringbone and chevron patterns are the most requested premium flooring layouts in Rochdale in 2026. Available in both engineered wood and LVT, these diagonal V-patterns instantly elevate any hallway, kitchen, or lounge. Herringbone uses rectangular planks laid at 90° to each other; chevron uses planks cut at an angle so the pattern forms a continuous V shape. Both patterns require more skill to lay accurately and take longer to install than straight-lay flooring — but the visual impact is significantly greater. Our flooring team has extensive experience in pattern laying and ensures perfectly straight centre lines throughout.

Room Guide

Which Flooring for
Which Room in Your Home?

Different rooms have different requirements. Here is a practical guide to matching the right flooring type to each room in your Rochdale home.

Kitchen & Dining

The kitchen needs a waterproof, durable, easy-to-clean floor that can handle spills, dropped pots, and heavy foot traffic. Moisture resistance is non-negotiable near a sink or dishwasher.

LVT ✓ BestSheet Vinyl ✓Porcelain Tile ✓

Bathroom & En-Suite

Bathrooms need fully waterproof flooring. LVT is ideal — it handles water splashes, humidity, and underfloor heating. Sheet vinyl is a budget-friendly alternative.

Living Room

The lounge is a showcase room — appearance and comfort both matter. Hard flooring with a good underlay adds warmth; carpet adds softness. The choice depends on your lifestyle and interior style.

Engineered Wood ✓LVT ✓Laminate ✓Carpet ✓

Bedroom

Bedrooms prioritise comfort, warmth, and quiet. Carpet is the traditional favourite and for good reason — it is softer underfoot for bare feet in the morning and better for acoustic insulation between floors.

Carpet ✓ BestEngineered Wood ✓LVT ✓

Hallway

Hallways take the most punishment of any floor in the home — dirt from outside, heavy traffic, pushchairs, and bags. Choose a durable hard floor with a good wear layer. Herringbone adds visual impact to a narrow hall.

LVT ✓ BestEngineered Wood ✓Herringbone ✓

Stairs & Landing

Stairs need a floor that grips well, wears slowly, and looks good throughout the staircase. Carpet with a quality underlay is the safest and most practical choice. LVT stair nosings are also available for hard flooring on stairs.

2026 Price Guide

How Much Does
Flooring Cost
in Rochdale?

Flooring costs in Rochdale and Greater Manchester in 2026 are typically 15–20% lower than London and South East prices for the same products and installation. The cost depends primarily on the flooring type, room size, and the condition of the existing subfloor.

Subfloor preparation is the most frequently overlooked cost in flooring projects. If the existing subfloor is uneven, the floor covering will telegraph those imperfections within months. We always assess the subfloor at the survey and include any necessary preparation in our written quote — so you are never caught out by surprise levelling costs after the project has started.

We offer both supply-and-fit (where we source your flooring at competitive trade prices and fit it) and fit-only (where you supply flooring from any retailer and we install it). Our quotes are always fixed-price and fully itemised.

💡 What drives your flooring cost in Rochdale?

Floor type — engineered wood costs around 3x more per m² than sheet vinyl. Room size — larger areas cost less per m². Subfloor condition — levelling adds £3–8/m². Pattern — herringbone takes 50% longer to lay than straight-lay. Underlay — a quality underlay adds £1.50–£4/m² but makes a significant difference to comfort and sound.

Subfloor Preparation

Why Subfloor Preparation
Makes or Breaks Your New Floor

The single biggest cause of flooring failures in Rochdale homes is inadequate subfloor preparation. LVT and laminate installed over an uneven, contaminated, or structurally weak subfloor will lift, buckle, creak, or develop hollow spots — sometimes within a matter of months. No flooring product, however expensive, can compensate for a poor subfloor underneath it.

At every survey we carry out, our team assesses the existing subfloor condition — checking for levelness, stability, moisture content, and the suitability of the existing surface for the chosen flooring type. Where preparation is needed, we include it in the quote so there are no surprises on the day we start.

Proper preparation is not optional. It is the foundation that determines whether your new floor looks perfect in five years' time or starts to fail in five months.

Levelness Check

We check the floor for level tolerance using a 2m straight edge. LVT requires no more than 3mm deviation over 2m. Any greater deviation must be corrected with floor-levelling compound before laying.

Moisture Testing

On concrete subfloors — particularly in extensions and new builds — we carry out moisture testing before laying any floor covering. Excess moisture causes LVT adhesive failure and swells the core of laminate boards. A damp-proof membrane may be required.

Old Adhesive & Contaminants

Existing adhesive residue, tile fixing, or contamination on the subfloor must be removed before laying a new floor covering. Old adhesive causes lumps that telegraph through LVT and laminate. We grind or scrape the subfloor clean as part of the preparation work.

Structural Stability

On timber subfloors (common in older Rochdale terraced houses), we check for bounce, movement, and squeaking. Loose or springy boards must be screwed down and any significant movement addressed before laying hard flooring — particularly LVT glue-down.

FAQ

Flooring
Questions Answered

Common questions from Rochdale homeowners about flooring costs, types, and fitting. Not found your answer? Just ask us.

Flooring costs in Rochdale range from £6–£14/m² for budget sheet vinyl to £55/m²+ for premium engineered wood fully fitted. A 20m² living room costs £280–£560 for laminate, £440–£700 for LVT, or £600–£1,100 for engineered wood. A full 3-bed house ranges from £2,000 for carpet throughout to £7,000 for LVT. All quotes are free and fixed-price.

LVT has overtaken laminate as the most popular flooring in Rochdale in 2026. It is waterproof, durable, and works in every room. Brands like Karndean, Amtico, and Quick-Step Livyn are most commonly chosen. Engineered oak herringbone is the most requested premium option for open-plan spaces.

In some cases — click-lock LVT can go over sound, level, fully bonded existing tiles or vinyl. But laying over an uneven or unstable surface causes early failure. We always assess the existing subfloor and advise honestly at the survey whether overlaying is appropriate or whether removal is the better approach.

A single room takes approximately one day. A full house takes 3–7 working days depending on number of rooms, floor type, and preparation. Herringbone pattern laying takes about 50% longer than straight-lay. We agree a clear programme and stick to it.

Both. We offer supply-and-fit at competitive trade prices, or a fit-only service where you purchase your own flooring. If you supply the product, we ask to see the specification before the survey to confirm it is suitable for your subfloor and the intended room.

For most Rochdale family homes LVT is the better choice — it is waterproof so it works in kitchens and bathrooms, warmer underfoot, quieter, and handles children and pets well. Laminate is a good budget option for bedrooms and living rooms where there is no moisture risk. We advise on the most appropriate product for each room at your free survey.
